San Juan tricycles allowed to ferry passengers during transport strike
In the city of San Juan, tricycle drivers and commuters alike are reminded of the singil or fare rates that have been approved by the Tricycle Regulatory Board (TRB). The singil remains applicable even during the upcoming tigil pasada or transport strike that is scheduled to take place from March 6-10, as stated in Executive Order FMZ-141, Series of 2023.
Under the said executive order, tricycles that are under the authority of the city of San Juan are allowed to travel to all areas within the city during the tigil pasada period, providing an alternative mode of transportation for the public.
However, commuters are advised to adhere to the approved singil for tricycle rides in San Juan. The fare rates are set at P10 for the first kilometer, and P1 for each succeeding kilometer for regular trips. For special trips, the initial charge is P30 for the first kilometer and P1 for each succeeding kilometer.
In addition, the city provides discounted rates for specific groups such as seniors, persons with disabilities (PWDs), solo parents, and students with proper identification. These groups are charged a lower rate of P8 for regular trips.
While the tigil pasada may cause some inconvenience for commuters, the availability of tricycles and adherence to the approved fare rates will ensure a smoother and more efficient transportation experience in the city of San Juan.
