As Metro Manila is set to be placed under the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) Alert Level 4 on Thursday, September 16, San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora said the city is ready to implement the guidelines for the new quarantine status, according to a report by Manila Bulletin.

“I received the guidelines Monday night and as early as yesterday morning, and of course for the whole day today, our task is really to disseminate this information not just to the public, but more so to the business establishments,” Zamora said in an interview with CNN Philippines early Wednesday morning.

“Yesterday morning, I met with the heads of malls here in San Juan, mainly Greenhills Shopping Center, Promenade Theater Mall, and Santolan Town Plaza and I personally coordinated with them for the strict implementation that I am expecting from them.Tomorrow I will be going around these malls to install stickers indicating 100% fully vaccinated employees,” he added.

The mayor said that with the new quarantine status, he has requested the San Juan City Council to conduct a special session to lift the liquor ban which was implemented in early August.

He added that all the guidelines for the new quarantine status are posted on his official Facebook account, as well as on San Juan’s Facebook page.

Zamora warned business establishments that will not adhere to the Inter Agency Task Force (IATF) guidelines that they will be immediately shut down and may even face jail time, especially those who will falsely claim that all of their employees are vaccinated and those who will allow more than the allowed business capacity indoors, and 30 percent capacity outdoors.

He added that all local government units of San Juan have been informed about the new quarantine status and assured the public that they are ready in the implementation of its guidelines and granular lockdowns of areas with high number of COVID-19 cases. As of today, there are 12 areas in San Juan that are under granular lockdown.

The new quarantine status of Metro Manila was created to ensure that the proper health and safety protocols are observed by the public to mitigate the number of COVID-19 cases and at the same time, give the economy the chance to restart.

The GCQ Alert level 4 status in Metro Manila will be in effect until September 30.
