San Juan opens 3rd vaccination site
The San Juan City local government inaugurated on Monday, July 19, its third vaccination site to further boost its vaccination capabilities, especially amid the threat of the COVID-19 Delta variant, according to a report by Manila Bulletin.
San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora led the launch together with other city government officials. The city’s newest vaccination site is located at the third floor events place of VMall in Greenhills.
The site can accommodate 1,000 vaccinees a day and will increase the city’s daily vaccination rate to 5,000 jabs, including jabs done at the city’s primary vaccination sites — FilOil Flying V Centre and Theatre Mall Cinemas 1 and 2.
“We want to follow through with the commitment we made with Sec. Duque and Sec. Dizon that we will achieve the 100 percent second dose of our target by the end of August and this is one of the strategies we’re implementing to accomplish that,” Zamora said.
Department of Health Sec. Francisco Duque, Department of Trade and Industry Sec. Ramon Lopez, NTF Deputy Chief Implementer and Testing Czar Sec. Vince Dizon, and Presidential Spokesperson Sec. Harry Roque visited the city last July 12 as the LGU announced that San Juan City has already inoculated more than 100 percent of its target population against COVID-19.
Secretary Dizon and Secretary Duque lauded the LGU for its fast and efficient vaccination program.
“Sabi nga po ni Secretary Duque, ang San Juan po ang kauna-unahang LGU sa Pilipinas na umabot ng at least one dose sa kanyang 70 percent target population. As of today, 96,610 na po ang nabakunahan ng at least one dose ng LGU ng San Juan (As what Secretary Duque had said, San Juan is the very first LGU in the Philippines which completed vaccinating with at least one dose its 70 percent target population. As of today, 96,610 people have been vaccinated with at least one dose by the San Juan LGU) ,” Dizon said.
After the inauguration of the vaccination site, Mayor Zamora went biking around the city from the Greenhills Loop all the way to Brgy. Corazon de Jesus for “Bisikleta Para sa Bakuna” program as the city government made another round of on-ground house-to-house campaign and registration to further increase vaccine awareness and acceptance.
“Our vaccine registration numbers are already high, but our objective is to vaccinate every San Juaneño who qualified based on age, IATF prioritization, and health status. So we will keep on encouraging them, at the same time, educate them regarding the truths about the vaccine,” Zamora said.
As of July 17, the city government has already vaccinated 105,410 individuals with their first dose or 122.40 percent of its target population based on the Philippine Statistics Authority’s (PSA) 2021 population projection or 113.52 percent based on the Asian Development Bank 2021 population projection.
A total of 39,558 San Juaneños already received their second dose or 45.93 percent of the city’s target population based on PSA’s numbers or 42.6 percent based on ADB. The Philippine Statistics Authority projects San Juan City to have a 123,031 population in 2021 while the ADB projects that the city will have a 132,512 population in 2021.
