San Juan inoculates 50% of target population
About 42,561 San Juan residents, representing 50 percent of the city's target population, were vaccinated against the coronavirus, Mayor Francis Zamora said in a report by Philippine News Agency.
As of June 15, half of the 85,400 targeted adult population composed of A1 (healthcare workers), A2 (senior citizens), A3 (persons with comorbidity), and A4 (economic front-liners, uniformed personnel and government workforce) have received their shots.
Zamora said a steady supply of vaccines can hasten the city's vaccination drive and achieve mass population protection soon.
"As long as we receive replenishments of vaccines, our city can vaccinate approximately 2,500 to 3,000 individuals, at that rate, we may reach herd immunity by end of August 2021," Zamora said in a social media post.
Zamora reminded residents who have signed up in the city's online vaccination program to wait for a confirmatory text indicating vaccination schedules before going to the sites to prevent crowding.
"We cannot accommodate everyone at the same time," he said.
On Tuesday, San Juan started vaccinating the A5 priority group comprising of the indigent population.
The indigents received Pfizer vaccines which were donated through the COVAX Facility.
"Even if we are now at A5, we are vaccinating simultaneously our A4 and we are also giving priority to those who belong to A1, A2, and A3 who so decide to get vaccinated," Zamora said.
