San Juan City adjusted its curfew hours from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. starting June 15, but it still imposes some restrictions to control the spread of the coronavirus in the city.

According to Public Information Office (PIO) chief Brian Geli, the city council enacted City Ordinance No. 17, series of 2020, declaring curfew hours in the city to be adjusted from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., after President Duterte declared the extension of general community quarantine to the National Capital Region up to June 30.

Geli added that even with the imposition of relaxed curfew hours in the city, Mayor Francis Zamora still prohibits any individuals from remaining in public places without a legal or justifiable reason.

He said that those exempted from curfew hours were health workers and frontline personnel; on-duty police, military personnel, and other law enforcers; city employees providing services to the city residents; and on-duty private and public employees.

Other individuals exempted from curfew hours were providers of public transport services; delivery services of basic necessities; any persons involved in an emergency situation; and any government employees in their duties authorized by the local chief executive.

The PIO chief added that the ordinances still impose penalties under Republic Act No. 11332, an act providing policies and prescribing procedures on surveillance and response to notifiable diseases, epidemics, and health events of public health concern.
