San Juan opens Second World War Exhibit
On April 26, 2023, Councilor Bea De Guzman led the inauguration of the "Faces of Heroism During the Second World War" exhibit at the El Deposito Museum, in San Juan City. The exhibit was launched in celebration of National Heroes Day, in honor of the Filipinos who showed heroism and gallantry during World War II.
The exhibit features paintings by Adan Pesito and Derrick Macutay, depicting the faces of Filipino heroes who fought against the occupation forces, organized opposition groups, and served as medical teams to heal the sick and wounded during the war. The paintings were carefully curated to showcase the bravery and sacrifices of the people who fought for the country's freedom.
Councilor De Guzman, the Chairperson of the Committee on Culture, Arts, History and Tourism, delivered a message on behalf of Mayor Francis Zamora during the event. She expressed her gratitude for the bravery and patriotism of the Filipino heroes who fought during World War II, and praised their unwavering commitment to the country's independence.
The event was attended by barangay officials, city hall employees, students, and teachers from different schools in San Juan. The exhibit aims to educate the youth about the heroism of Filipinos during the Second World War and inspire them to become heroes themselves, ready to serve their country in any way they can.
In her speech, Councilor De Guzman emphasized the importance of recognizing and honoring our national heroes. She encouraged the youth to continue learning about their bravery and contributions to our country's history and identity.
The "Faces of Heroism During the Second World War" exhibit is open to the public and will be on display at the El Deposito Museum until May 26, 2023. The exhibit serves as a reminder that the sacrifices and heroism of our ancestors should never be forgotten and should always be celebrated.
