78 applicants hired on the sport in San Juan job fair
In an effort to help San Juaneños find livelihood that will help them live better lives and ahead of the celebration of Labor Day, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) headed by DOLE-PAMAMARISAN Director Lilibeth Caraga and the City Government of San Juan through the Public Employment Office (PESO) held a Mega Job Fair last April 28, 2023, at San Juan Gym. 78 of the more than 200 applicants who registered in the fair were hired on the spot, while 144 were nearly-hired.
“This is still part of the Makabagong San Juan’s ten-point agenda under Livelihood, wherein we are implementing the San Juan First Policy Program, which prioritizes San Juaneños to be employed by businesses in San Juan and I am very happy that 78 San Juaneños were luckily hired on the spot while 144 applicants were nearly-hired, they just have to submit additional requirements or scheduled for further assessment and interviews”, said Mayor Zamora.
Forty-eight (48) local companies and five (5) international companies partnered with the city government and DOLE and offered 3,860 jobs to individuals looking for jobs.
San Juan has also set up a one-stop shop where they can process their memberships in Pag-Ibig, PhilHealth, and SSS, as well as help desks from PSA, BIR, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), and DOLE.
Mayor Francis Zamora and Congresswoman Bel Zamora both thanked the PESO, the national government agecies and the participating local and overseas companies for making the event successful.
“Nagpapasalamat po tayo sa ating PESO Head, Richard Matriano at sa lahat ng empleyado ng PESO, of course we would also like to thank Director Lilibeth Caraga of DOLE-PAMAMARISAN na laging tumutulong sa atin, sila rin po ang nagbibigay sa atin ng TUPAD at ng iba pang employment opportunities dito sa San Juan, we also have Pagibig, Philhealth, SSS, PSA, andito din po ang OWWA at DMW so pumunta po kayo dito and all your concerns may be addressed by the government agencies that are represented here,” Congresswoman Bel Zamora said.
“We are very grateful for the support of our partner local and international companies in making job opportunities accessible to every San Juaneño. We are also thankful to the national agencies for their respective help desks that provided assistance and other career-related services to the jobseekers, this is literally a “one-stop shop” job fair for the San Juaneños,” the mayor said.
“Aside from the regular job fair, the PESO is open Mondays to Fridays to readily assist job seekers. The San Juan City Skills and Training Center is likewise regularly providing various skills and livelihood trainings to San Juaneños for free,” he added.
