San Juan launches supplementary feeding program
San Juan City takes a proactive step in addressing the nutritional needs of its residents as it launches the Supplementary Feeding Program with the theme "Masustansyang Pagkain para sa Kinabukasan ng Makabagong San Juan." The City Government, in collaboration with the City Health Department, initiated this program to ensure that its constituents receive the necessary nutrients for a healthier future. The launch event took place on May 8, 2023, and showcased various activities aimed at promoting proper nutrition among the community.
One of the highlights of the program was the blessing of the new Mobile Kitchen, a specially designed vehicle belonging to the Nutrition Division. This mobile facility will play a vital role in providing nutritious meals to the people of San Juan. Equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, the Mobile Kitchen will travel to different locations in the city, offering freshly prepared and balanced meals to the residents.
As a demonstration of its commitment to improving the overall health and well-being of its citizens, the Supplementary Feeding Program initially targeted 110 beneficiaries. These individuals were provided with supplementary meals carefully designed to meet their nutritional needs. The program aims to offer additional nutrition support by utilizing locally produced food and ingredients, ensuring that San Juaneños have access to a well-rounded diet.
Aside from providing nourishing meals, the Supplementary Feeding Program also focuses on health and nutrition education. Through various initiatives, the program seeks to develop proper knowledge, habits, and skills related to healthy eating and balanced nutrition. By empowering individuals with the necessary information, the program aims to cultivate a culture of wellness within the community.
The overarching goal of the program is to enhance and maintain the nutritional status of the participants. By offering supplementary meals and engaging in educational activities, the City Government of San Juan aims to ensure the overall well-being and improved health outcomes of its residents.
The launch of the Supplementary Feeding Program reflects the city's unwavering commitment to the welfare of its residents, particularly in terms of nutrition. By promoting access to nutritious food and providing educational resources, San Juan City strives to create a healthier environment for its citizens. Through initiatives like this, the city is taking significant steps towards building a brighter and more prosperous future for the Makabagong San Juan.
