QC holds fiscal management seminar for barangay officials
In line with Mayor Joy Belmonte's good governance thrust, officials from the Quezon City’s 142 barangays underwent a three-day seminar on financial management in Tagaytay City on August 22.
The seminar, facilitated by the QC Barangay and Community Relations Department and conducted by the Commission on Audit, trained the participants on government financial report processes.
Barangay officials are expected to submit more organized financial reports after the seminar, Quezon City Auditor Atty. Ressureccion Quieta said.
Quieta added that barangays have been enjoined to adopt financial management manual in accordance with COA’s Memorandum Circular 2015-011.
"We are grateful to Mayor Joy kasi she responded to our request to conduct this seminar. Kailangan na kasing baguhin 'yung forms and reports as per COA's memorandum circular," Quieta said.
The training was also attended by personnel from the City Treasury Office and City Accounting Department.
Barangay UP Village chairman Atty. Virgilio Ferrer II acknowledged the importance of the training in helping their barangay to comply with the new financial management forms and ensure that the barangay’s funds are properly spent.
"This is part of the good governance (program) para masiguro na lahat ng ating ginagawa ay tama. Mas naging malinaw din 'yung role ng barangay captain, treasurer, at kagawad for appropriations dahil dito sa seminar." Ferrer said.
