Manila officials inspect Central Post Office after fire
In a swift response to the incident, Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan and Vice Mayor Yul Servo-Nieto conducted an inspection at the Manila Central Post Office on Monday, May 22, following a fire that broke out in the iconic building. The fire, which escalated to the general alarm status, has now been declared under control as of 7:22 AM, thanks to the efforts of the Manila Fire Department.
Manila Fire Department Fire SSUPT. Christine Doctor-Cula provided updates on the situation, stating that the fire has been successfully contained. The prompt action and coordination of the firefighting teams contributed to minimizing the damage to the national heritage site.
Recognizing the significance of the Manila Central Post Office as a cultural and historical landmark, the City of Manila, under the leadership of Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan, is actively engaging in discussions with the Philippine Post Office. The city aims to extend any necessary assistance to preserve and restore the affected areas of the building.
